Yes… the difference in taste is like chalk and cheese. The previous supply had a rather cloudy appearance and a rather ‘muddy’ taste. Your supply is wonderfully clear (even before we have had our filter changed) and a fantastic fresh, spring water type taste. It reminds me of my youth, walking in the lake district and drinking from water from the rocks!?

Thank you for all your help and it all looks super efficient and wonderful. Already we are appreciating the nice well water rather than the chlorinated mains. What a relief to have it all done after 3 years of trying to get 2 different contractors to do the work. Mark and co did a great job. We are finishing off the ground works next week.
We would like to have a maintenance contract please as quite clearly folk around here don’t know what they are talking about and it would be by far the best if you would keep it running for us. I am soon to buy a padlock for the door as our biggest enemy is others going in and turning every tap in the hope of fixing it and causing mayhem but then of course it is all so efficient that it most likely will not go wrong.

HOW MORGANS WERE A ‘NATURAL’ CHOICE FOR FARMER MERVYN
With a 400-acre sheep and arable farm situated about four miles from Presteigne, where the England-Wales border runs through his land, Mervyn Jones was a ‘natural’ borehole customer for WB & AD Morgan in more ways than one.
“When we decided to have a borehole installed back in 1994 we wanted to make use of the water beneath our land, and as Morgans were based at Presteigne they were a natural choice.
“Domestic water from the borehole is supplied to the farmhouse, a bungalow and three cottages, and also used for crop irrigation for oats, wheat and oil seed rape, as well as to our 250 breeding ewes and lambs”, he said.
Over the years the company has maintained the farm’s water supply system, installing an additional filter to cure a silting problem and, more recently, a water softener to eliminate an increasing level of phosphate.
“I’ve been surprised by how much less soap and detergent we now use and how much softer the water is now, as well as solving the phosphate problem. I can’t fault the service from Morgans – any problems and they pop out and sort them.
“We had a problem with the water pressure, and they sorted that in half an hour”, said Mervyn.- Mervyn Jones
BOXING DAY CRISIS SOLVED – WITH A HAIR DRIER!
Gill Stovold runs a 5-Star holiday apartment at The Coach House, The Old Rectory, Stoke Prior, in Herefordshire, and describes how WB+AD Morgan ensured the water – and the heating – kept flowing.
The borehole at The Old rectory was installed by WB+AD Morgan around 1990, and we moved into the property in 2006. In 2010 the pump failed. We contacted the company at opening time and within two hours we had an engineer on site. By the close of business a new pump was installed, the system was flushed and in full working order.
On Boxing Day 2010 we awoke to extreme temperatures recording minus 19 deg C. Our borehole holding tank had frozen solid. We called WB+AD Morgan and were directed to an emergency mobile number. After discussing the problem, the engineer suggested that we slowly thaw the tank using a hair drier! Some six hours later the tank had thawed and the water was pumping without any damage to the system. At the suggestion of WB+AD Morgan we have significantly upgraded the insulation around the tank.
In early 2012 we converted our Coach House into a 5-Star holiday let. We were keen to ensure that the water supply to this building would be ample, whilst not reducing the supply to the main house. WB+AD Morgan made the necessary calculations and installed a larger holding tank. For total peace of mind concerning water quality they also installed a UV filtering system. The water is laboratory tested, and WB+AD Morgan organise this service for us too.
We and our paying guests are delighted by the outcome!
Most recently, in Dec 2013, we experienced problems with the water softener in the main house. Whilst WB+AD Morgan did not install this aged system, they made a site visit and the system is working again. We will ask WB+AD Morgan to fit a new softener when it is needed.
All in all, we have found WB+AD Morgan personnel to be punctual, helpful and to be forthcoming with explanation and advice in a friendly yet professional manner. We would most certainly recommend them to others.- Gill Stovold, The Coach House
WATER SOFTENER SAVES MONEY – AND KEEPS ‘SCALE’ AT BAY
Chris Smith runs a B & B at The Old Vicarage, Lyonshall, in Herefordshire, and describes the advantages of having a water softener installed.
WB+AD Morgan look after my property’s boreholes under contract and fix anything that needs fixing from time to time.
I enquired recently about water softening as the borehole water is pretty hard. This hardness has resulted in deposits of calcium and lime scale on anything which heats water – kettles, hot water cylinder, washing machine, dishwasher and so on. It also leaves deposits on shower glass, taps, toilet bowls and ballcocks. This shortens the lives of all of this equipment and makes for lots of cleaning work.
Morgans quoted what I thought was a very reasonable price and have subsequently installed a water softener that softens the water immediately after it comes from the borehole. This has to deal with a large flow rate of around 4 cubic metres per hour when the borehole pump is at work three or four times a day for quite brief spells as our loft tanks are refilled.
Since installation the differences it has made have been remarkable. Everything stays clean and calcium-deposit-free, so wear and tear on the equipment is bound to be much less than before. We also use a lot less soap, shampoo, conditioner, and washing soap powder. Cleaning showers, baths and basins is no longer the chore it once was.
We really wish we had had this installed from the day we moved here (14 yrs ago) as it would have saved a lot of money in terms of replacing furred up kit, such as a massive hot water cylinders and washing machines. I guess it is leaving a lot less deposits in the central heating system too, but haven’t been able to verify this yet. The running costs of the softener are insignificant compared to the savings.
We use around one cubic metre of water per day in winter and about twice this in the summer, as we run a small B & B operation. The water softener comes with a usage meter which allows us to know how much we are using. Currently we put a 25Kg bag of salt tablets into the system once a month and this keeps the water soft – approx £10 per month.
We have carried out controlled blind tasting sessions of the before and after water and there is no discernible difference in the taste – if anything it ‘feels’ nicer after the change.
The service from Morgans was great – they came pretty quickly, did what they did and left the place clean and tidy – a good professional job at the price they quoted.
